Keystone Heritage operates primarily along the M4 corridor between Bristol and Reading, providing expert conservation and heritage construction services throughout this region.
With Jamie based in Bristol and Luke in Reading, our team is well-positioned to cover a broad geographical area efficiently, while maintaining the hands-on approach and attention to detail our clients value.

It depends on the nature of your project.
If your focus is on restoration or conservation, an architect is often not required. In these cases, our specialist team can usually take the lead, drawing on our extensive experience with historic buildings and traditional methods.
However, if your project involves remodelling, altering, or extending a period property, we typically recommend engaging an architect to ensure the best outcome.
We're happy to recommend a number of architects we've successfully collaborated with in the past. We work closely alongside them to deliver thoughtful, cost-effective solutions that respect the character of the building while meeting your needs

For repairs and conservation:
Once you’ve made an initial enquiry, we will typically arrange a site visit. This allows us to gain a clear understanding of the site and repairs required. It’s also an excellent opportunity for you to meet us in person and get a sense of who we are and how we work.We believe that a strong relationship between client and contractor is essential to a successful outcome.
Following the site visit, we take time to reflect on the scope of the work and provide you with a detailed estimate.
If you’re happy to move forward, we’ll confirm a start date that works for everyone. For alterations and additions:
Similarly, once you or your architect have made an enquiry, we’ll arrange a site visit. This helps us gain a clear understanding of both the site itself and your vision for the project. It’s also a valuable chance to meet face-to-face and get a feel for how we work.We understand that projects of this nature can feel intrusive at times, so it’s important you feel comfortable with the team carrying out the work. Building trust and establishing a good working relationship from the outset is essential.
In the early stages of design, we’re happy to provide ballpark figures to help you gauge the potential costs. Then, once the finer details and specifications are confirmed, we can follow up with a more accurate and tailored estimate.
If you're happy to proceed, we’ll agree on a start date that suits all our schedules.

Every project we take on is unique, and so are the costs involved. Factors such as the scope of work, the condition of the building, materials required, and access to the site all play a part.
We’re happy to offer initial ballpark figures early in the conversation to help you understand whether the project aligns with your budget. Once we’ve had a site visit and reviewed the details and specifications, we’ll provide a more accurate, itemised estimate.
Our goal is always to deliver high-quality workmanship in a way that’s transparent and cost-effective—respecting both the building and your investment
-
We require a deposit on all projects prior to commencing work. The amount will vary depending on the scope and scale of the project.
This deposit secures your place in our schedule and allows us to prepare effectively, particularly when ordering specialist materials that may have longer lead times.
It also represents a mutual commitment to the project, ensuring that both parties are aligned and ready to proceed with confidence.
-
Timelines can vary depending on the complexity and size of the project, as well as the condition and accessibility of the building.
Following our initial consultation and site visit, we’ll give you an estimated timeframe based on our experience with similar projects.
Once the scope and technical details are finalised, we’ll agree on a clear schedule so you know what to expect.
Throughout the process, we work efficiently while maintaining the care and precision that heritage projects demand.

At Keystone Heritage Ltd, our team is highly skilled across the wide range of tasks that heritage projects demand. While everyone is trained to tackle the day-to-day challenges we encounter, each member does bring their own specialism to the table.
If your project is predominantly masonry or lime mortar based, you’ll likely be working closely with Jamie, James, or Dave. For timber-focused work, you’ll see more of Luke and Mark. That said, one of the great joys of working with historic buildings is the variety—they constantly offer new challenges, and we take real pride in turning our hands to it all. It’s this diversity of work that keeps us passionate about what we do.
For work outside our core skill set, such as electrical and plumbing, we rely on a trusted network of specialist subcontractors we've built strong working relationships with over the past 20 years in the heritage construction industry. Their consistent quality and understanding of our standards mean they integrate seamlessly into our projects, helping us deliver reliable, well-coordinated results every time.

Start dates can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project, as well as our current schedule. Once we’ve had an initial conversation and carried out a site visit, we’ll be able to give you a realistic timeframe for getting started.
We understand that timing is important, so we’re always upfront about our availability and do our best to accommodate your schedule where possible.
If your project is time-sensitive, feel free to let us know early on and we’ll do what we can to help.
